Radio 1 – Dave Pearce

In 2004 BBC Radio 1 asked The Cut Up Boys if they would be so kind as to put together some choice mash-ups to spice up Dave Pearces drive time show. Being well brought up boys Nick and Matt thought it would be rude not to. The result was “The Cut Up Mix”, broadcast every Thursday at 7.30pm. Taking all the biggest tunes of the moment and mashing them the hell up these seamless seminal mixes were a revelation to both listeners and the station itself. Showcasing the fast evolving mash-up sound to a mainstream audience for the first time “The Cut Up Mixes” rapidly grew into one of Radio 1′s most popular items, regularly sending the text service into meltdown as  gob-smacked audience demanded to know where they get hold of these mad re-interpretations of what was happening in the charts. Unheard for over 5 years these legendary mixes are truly historical documents in the history of mashed music. Because we love you we will keep bringing you a taste of the mixes here. Big shout out to Dave Pearce, Daniel Bailey and all the fine people who helped make the “Cut Up Mix” such a crazy success. A lot of fun was had :)
